Every group will make two presentations, and submit a single final report by the end of the class: 1. Brainstorming results. First presentation (30 points). You will present your ideas, thoughts, and questions. No definite answers are required. You will not lose points for presenting ideas that may turn out to be wrong. The key is to get started and to show that you have given the problem a serious thought. About 10 to 15 min (depending on class size) min per group presentation + 5 min discussion with the rest of the class. Other groups are expected to ask at least couple of relevant questions. 2. Mid-term report (50 points). Sometime about a month after the initial brainstorming. Exact date TBA. By this time, you must have a clear idea of what you are doing. You must have a fair amount of preliminary results by that time. In essense, you should be about half way through the project. Do not spend too much time on the problem set-up, then present your results one by one. Try to present your results for each "deliverable", name the sections of your report accordingly. I will specify useful "deliverables" for the project. 3. Pre-final report (25 points). 5-7 mins. per group, each group presents. Summary of concrete preliminary results. Must show at least one folding protocol you have tried, with the outcomes. Energies. Structures (pictures). In short, To earn full points you must show clear evidence that the project is well under way. 4. Last class: Pring final report draft, in good shape. Most pictures + captions. All section titles. I will help you address shortcomings to have a better final report. 5. Final report. 100 points. Due within 3 days of the reading day, by 5 pm. 6 to 8 pages max, 11 pt font. PDF + LaTex or Word source. Template will be provided. Make sure to give your names on the front page, along with a description of who did what.
