Electronic Devices
Electronic Devices

All students must be able to easily listen to lectures in class. Hindering other students' ability to hear the instructor due to usage of any type of electronic device will not be tolerated. Students must adhere to the following rules regarding the use of electronic devices if they wish to remain in the course. Any student may request another student to cease usage of any electronic device if it is disturbing them. Failure to immediately stop usage by the offending party will be considered for grounds of removal from lecture.

  • Cell Phones
All cell phones must be turned off or set to vibration (silence) mode upon entry to lecture. No verbal calls must be accepted during lectures. Text messaging is permitted provided it does not disturb any other students.
  • Laptop Computers
The audio of laptop computers must be turned off upon entry to lecture. Use of a computer during lecture for verbal communication is not permitted. All other usage of laptop computers is permitted provided it does not disturb any other students.
  • Music Players
The use of personal music players with earphones is permitted provided it does not disturb any other students. Audio levels of earphones must be set to a minimum. External speaker use is prohibited.
  • Other Devices: (PDAs, etc.)
All other electronic devices is permitted provided that similar guidelines to the rules posted previously are followed. Audio must be silenced. All other usage of other electronic devices is permitted provided it does not disturb any other students.

Note that the above permitted usage of electronic devices is not encouraged. Students who do not attend lecture, actively listen to discussions and engage in question dialogs tend to perform poorly or fail.
