CS 1944: Computer Science First Year Seminar
Some example answers to the question "what are you interested in?"
- I'm interested in GUI's, developing the infrastructure that allows an effective level of interaction between the software itself and the user. It's a feature that many forget how complicated it is, because you have to take a person's thought process and preferences into account when developing. It's something I find fascinating.
- I am interested in finding simple solutions to complex problems.
- I am interested in massively parallel computing.
- I enjoy thinking about how to optimize code at the compiler level.
- I'm a sophomore, so I'm still exploring and I'm pretty open to different areas of
computer science. I'm particularly interested in testing, and am also interested in
development. One of the projects we worked on last semester was X and that made me
want to learn more about Y.
- I'm interested in developing support systems for military applications.
- I'm interested in financial software development focused on algorithmic implementations used in high frequency trading.
- I'm interested in working with technologies (hardware and software) that the general public hasn't been exposed to or doesn't understand yet.
- I'm interested in working with cutting edge technology through research.
- I am interested in software application development. I would like to gain experience in software development methodologies like agile software development.
- I am interested in autonomous vehicles and robotics, specifically in developing software for robot control and human computer interaction.
- I am interested in mobile software application development for both iPhone and Android devices.
