CS4624 Lab 1 - Orientation
There are many activities to be done in the Laboratory:
- Check you name on the Roll. If present, simply neatly print your PID
to the right of the information about you.
If not present, and you want to take this
course, add your names on the role with all columns of data
filled in, and:
- Explain your reasons for wanting to take the course
in a printed note to the instructor, indicating reasons
that you should be preferred over others. Give your phone number, student
ID, full name, email address, which sections you can take,
year, major(s), minor(s), expected graduation date, drop/add
form, and explanation.
- Answer the Pre-Test as best as you can
and turn in the opscan answer sheet to the instructor, with no questions
unanswered. Please give your student ID instead of NAME.
- Use Netscape to follow along and read crucial information
about CS4624, starting at http://ei.cs.vt.edu/~mm/
but looking especially at the Syllabus,
Outline,
and Calendar.
Please complete the Exercises for the IN unit.
- Take a digital photograph of you and a
partner, retouch it and store it.
- Become oriented with the various tools on the "desktop" on
the lab machines. During the semester you will use: Acrobat,
AuthorWare, HyperCard,
Netscape, Sound
Machine, Ulaw and other routines.
It is recommended that if you have time you systematically study all tools
- Begin to discuss group projects with your colleagues.
