We have two in particular which we hope may be of interest to your students. Last year, a group from your class did a wonderful job developing a residence hall by residence hall "tour" of our facilities. It has been a great addition and we have upgraded it a bit and now use it as our virtual tour for incoming as well as current students (www.rdp.vt.edu/tour/tour.html). The wonderful work that last year's group did has created a void of sorts on our dining side. We would be very excited for a group to work with us in developing more in depth web sites for our dining centers as well as our a la cart facilities (Deet's Place, Vet Med, Hokie Grill, etc.). If the group is interested in creating a 360 view of the interior of the buildings through Quicktime or some other type of media, that would be great as well. Another project would be to assist us in creating a "shopping basket" for parents and students to use over the web to purchase gift packages, etc. We are in the process of making our web server secure for credit transactions, etc. and would like to give people the opportunity to shop for our projects on line like you might see through the on-line shopping sites. One of our units, Personal Touch Catering, has 20-30 types of products it sells and customers often buy more than one. The ability for the shopping basket to automatically total costs, etc. and send that info in the form of a mailto: to one of our staff for processing would be very helpful.
