Activity 5: Stages of Action

In this activity, we will explore the stages of action and how they help designers analyze an interaction sequence. We will focus on the task of selecting a part of a picture and inverting the colors on the selection. We will look at both the GIMP and MS Paint programs and analyze how the task is performed in each interface.

Read table 5.1 in the text and know how to perform the steps to invert the colors on a selection before the start of class on July 15, 2003. We will be holding an in-class discussion of this case material on that day and there will be a short quiz given at the beginning of class. No make-up quiz will be given! So if you come in late, you get a zero on that part of your grade.

Each person is encouraged to participate in this discussion. We will focus on how the stages of action help with the analysis of a task sequence.
