Homework 7: Prototyping
Due Thursday, March 20
Prototyping is a technique used for a variety of purposes in throughout all
phases of scenario-based user interface design and development. In this homework,
you will contrast the use of prototyping during the information design and
interaction design phases for the two of the case studies in the UCS: the
virtual science fair and garden.com.
1. Describe the ways that prototyping was used during the information and
interaction design in the virtual science fair case study, using the textbook
and the UCS. It would be useful to make a separate subsection for each distinct
use of prototyping that you want to identify.
2. Describe the ways that prototyping was used during the information and
interaction design in the garden.com case study, using the UCS. Again, it
would be useful to make a separate subsection for each distinct use of prototyping
that you want to identify.
3. Contrast the two
As usual, there is no one correct answer. We will be looking for evidence
that you have explored the case study enough to make a believable and coherent
argument (regardless of the position you take), and for the insightfulness
and creativity of your comparison of the two projects.
What to turn in:
Your analysis organized as described above
