Today’s activity is a
chance for you to do some initial brainstorming and planning for the third part
of your group project. I’ve
listed a few prompts to help you get going. Show me what you’ve ended up with before you leave.
1. Where/how will you get test users, three experienced, three
inexperienced? Who will be your
pilot test user? Why do you think
they will do a good job with the think-aloud part?
2. What background information do you need to collect from your
users? Why?
3. Brainstorm some ideas about general attitude items you could
ask in advance (i.e., as a current attitude or prediction) as well as
after the testing session.
Example: The Web offers a secure and reliable mechanism for
individuals who are selling or purchasing stocks (user
would rate agreement from Strongly Agree to Strongly Disagree)
4. Brainstorm some ideas
about specific attitude items you could ask after the test users have worked
through your four scenarios.
Remember these should be related if possible to claims that you have
analyzed (they do not need to have been submitted in the project report). Example: Entering my name and
password with the Palm Pilot graffiti language was intuitive and natural.
(user would rate agreement from Strongly Agree to Strongly Disagree)
5. Make a list of all the
data that you think you will be collecting. For each one, say how you will record it, and how you plan
to summarize it in the report.
