Introduction
to Human-Computer Interaction

Course Description: Survey
of human-computer interaction concepts, theory, and practice. Basic components
of human-computer interaction. Interdisciplinary underpinnings. Informed and
critical evaluation of computer-based technology. User-oriented perspective,
rather than system-oriented, with two thrusts: human (cognitive, social) and
technological (input/output, interactions styles, devices). Design guidelines,
evaluation methods, participatory design, communication between users and
system developers.
Prerequisite: CS 2604 (Data
Structures and File Management).

are listed. Lecture notes may be printed and brought to class for your own

Schedule of In-Class Activities:
This course meets on a
Tuesday/Thursday schedule. Typically, Tuesdays will involve lectures and/or
discussions of readings, and Thursdays will be used for in-class activities.
