23 August: From time to time during the semester, there will be opportunities to participate as a subject in research experiments in the HCI group. You can receive extra credit for participating in these experiments. Most experiments will be worth one point - to be added onto your final grade at the end of the semester. Some longer experiments may be worth two points.

When you participate in an experiment, be sure to tell the experimenter that you are earning extra credit. Tell him/her your name, student ID number, and course number (3724 or 4634). The experimenter will then submit the list of names to me.

Here is the first opportunity. It is worth one point:

We in 3D Interaction group are recruiting participants in a research project which is to evaluate varied display size and resolution on Information-Rich Virtual Environment task performance. Both graduate and undergraduate students are welcome. No background in virtual environment is assumed. Participation will be volunteer based. You will have a chance to work with the cutting-edge display technologies. The whole experiment will take 1 to 1.5 hours. If you are interested in it, please contact Tao by sending an email to nitao@vt.edu

23 August: The class listserv is now available. The address is: CS3724_91532@LISTSERV.VT.EDU

Students who do not attend the first day of class will be dropped whether they are registered or not.  Only students who attend the first day of class and complete the Force-Add form, Prerequisites form, and Background questionnaire will be considered to Force-Add this course.

23 August: Note that this Web site is still under construction.  The higher level parameters of the course are not likely to change much, but specific activities, homeworks, and lectures could definitely change at this point. Please stop by and see the professor if you have any questions or contingencies.
