Grading Scheme for CS 3724, Fall 2003

Project: 55% (10% x 5 phases, plus 5% for group presentation)
The largest component of your grade will be based on a semester-long group project. You will be assigned to a group of 3-4 students early in the semester. The project will be divided into five phases. Each phase will be worth 10 points. Each group will also present the results of one of the project phases; the presentation is worth an additional 5 points.

Mid-term exam: 15%
There will be one in-class test near the middle of the semester. The test will consist of short answer and essay questions.

Final exam: 15%
The final exam will be held during the university-assigned period at the end of the semester (91399: December 18, 2003, 1:05-3:05 PM; 91400: December 15, 2003, 10:05 AM - 12:05 PM). It will have the same format as the mid-term, and will be non-cumulative, covering only material from the second half of the semester.

Activities, quizzes, and homework: 15%
There will be approximately 10 in-class activities throughout the semester. Activities will have either a written component for students to prepare individually in advance, a quiz to test students’ preparation for the activity, or a group assignment to be done in class.
