CS 3724 Midterm Review
The midterm will be a closed-book, closed-notes exam.
The questions will come from material covered in class,
material from the textbook, and material from class
discussions and activities.
We have covered chapters 1, 2, and 9 in the Rosson and Carroll book
and chapters 1 and 7 in the Norman book.
You will have the entire class period to complete the midterm.
Several questions have multiple parts -- be sure to answer
each question completely.
There will be two types of questions on the midterm:
- Short answer questions -- the short answer questions
will test your ability to compare or apply
the terms and concepts from class in various situations.
You should answer the question in one or two paragraphs
(less than half a page).
Below is an example:
What is a root concept? When in the project lifecycle
should the root concept be created?
- Essay questions -- the essay questions will have multiple parts.
The first part typically will test your knowledge of facts and
definitions important to HCI, while the other parts
will push you to think about deeper, integrative issues.
Below is an example:
Describe the seven elements that define a scenario.
In your description of each element, provide an example
for a scenario within the emerging domain of ubiquitous computing.
If you have any general questions, please send them to the email list
so that the professor, the TA, and your fellow students
can help you to answer them. The TA will be proctoring the midterm,
so contact him with specific questions.
Good luck!
