The purpose behind these activities are to encourage students to learn via experience. For students already involved in volunteer activities, you can count those as credit. Note that only work done during this semester, can be counted. Also note that activities like Service Learning can provide valuable experience that you can put on your resume. For those of you who want to improve your experience base to be more marketable upon graduation, we recommend that you focus on activities like Service Learning and other types of service-oriented volunteering. For those of you who want to go to graduate school, involvement in research like VTURCS is very important, so you can focus your participation activities in that direction.
