Note: Your participation in any of these activities must be confirmed by documentation.
Some participation activities will give you 100% participation credit, plus exemption from the debates (i.e., 100% credit for the debates, too). An example is a full commitment (20 hours or more) to a service learning or CS-Squared project. I want to encourage extra-curricular participation, and I am willing to entertain a proposal from you for a combination of activities that also adds up to either 100% participation credit or 100% of both participation and debate credit. An example that would qualify for the latter is a partial commitment (e.g., 15 hours) to a service learning project plus another activity such as attendance at two career fairs or similar events. Other activities and combinations can qualify. Make your case to me by sending a proposal via email not later than the day when the on-line debates begin (approximately the Wednesday of the 10th week of the semester).

| Writing about course topics. This choice is designed mainly for students who need to make up some percentage of the total participation credit that they didn't get via other opportunities. If you really get stuck and need a lot of the participation credit at the end, let me know and we can work out something. | Write one or more papers about any relevant topics mentioned on the course website (that we do not cover in detail in class). You get 10% per page. You can write several one-pagers for 10% each, or one paper of several pages for 10% per page, or any combination thereof. |
