Russian Constitution:
Article 23:

1. Everyone has a right to nondisclosure of his private life, private and family secrecy, protection of his honor and good name.
2. Everyone has a right to private communication by mail, phone, telegraph or any other methods. The limitation of this right is only acceptable if ruled in court.

Comments to the article 23.
The right to nondisclosure of private life means that government gives and guarantees the person the ability to control information about himself and protect private or intimate information from being disclosed.

The relationships between people in the private life area are regulated in general by moral principals.

The right to private life is expressed in the freedom of interaction between people on a casual basis in family life, family and friendship relationships, intimate or other personal relationships, attachments, and sympathies. Ways of thinking, political and social points of view, hobbies and art also are related to aspects of private life. Private life of citizens, private and family secrecy, honor and good name are protected by law. These rules of Russian codex are in the compliance with the European convention of protection of human rights and basic freedoms. The institutions of executive powers cannot interfere with the execution of this right unless ruled in court.

The right to private life is guaranteed by laws: the right to private property, ability of free communication with other people by mail, telegraph, telephone and other means of communication, right to the family budget, right to invest money, privacy of which is guaranteed by the law. The exceptions from this common right can only be set by the federal law.

The Constitution guarantees the freedom of religion, right to vote. Privacy of confession is guaranteed by law. The religious institution of priest will not be prosecuted for not providing information about a crime that he became aware of at the confession.

The professional secrets besides the confession secret also include medical, judicial, adoption and commercial secrets.

The employees of law offices are obligated to keep in private the facts about private life of citizens. The fact of a person requesting the help of attorney is to be remained secret. The disclosure of such information is only accepted if requested by court or law enforcement agencies.

The nondisclosure of private life means the prohibition of government, its institutions and employees to interfere with private life of the citizens.
