Suggested guidelines from Dr. Hartson's Spring 2002 CS3604 class:

  1. Actively participate in classroom discussions
  2. Respect your classmates
  3. Don't work on assignments for other classes during lecture
  4. If you're sick, stay home and don't spread germs
  5. When late, wait for a break in the lecture to enter
  6. Don't interrupt another classmate's response - wait until they've finished
  7. Try to keep questions/comments related to the current discussion
  8. Don't stretch backwards into the person sitting behind you
  9. Don't come to class if you're more than 20 minutes late
  10. The use of firearms in class is prohibited
  11. No cursing
  12. Raise your hand when asking a question
  13. No loud typing
  14. No listening to headphones
  15. Wait until Dr. Hartson releases the class to begin packing up (though it is all right to politely suggest that time is running out)
  16. Don't sleep during class
  17. No cell phones or pagers in class
  18. Don't come to class drunk
  19. No radio or CD players
  20. Students with good attendance get a good participation grade
  21. No talking
  22. Don't make distracting noises
  23. If you have food, bring enough for everyone
  24. Don't make up fake deaths (even your own) to get out of class
  25. Don't do homework for this or any other course during lectures or presentations
  26. Bathe before class
  27. If you arrive during a presentation, wait in the hall until the speaker finishes
  28. Don't pass notes during class
  29. Try to appear awake
