CS 2704 Final Exam
The common-time CS 2704 Final Exam will be given from 11:05 am to 1:05 pm on
Monday, May 6. The exam for Mr. McQuain's sections will be in Torgersen
3100 and the exam for Dr. Perez' sections will be in Smyth 146.

- The demo data for the third project has been posted on the Projects
page. The original version of the final script violated spec by
creating two plants in the same square at the same time. I've given
the TAs a fixed version of the script, as of this morning. If you
already demoed your project lost points on the last test, try your code with
the fixed test; if it works, get in touch with me, or the TA who handled
your demo and we will take a look at it. McQ

- I've posted what will probably be the last data set for the EcoSystem project on the Project
page. I fixed the problem with the log for the first general test, and

- I've posted a polymorphism homework assignment on the Homework
page. This may help you work out some of the issues you'll face in the

- I've made one change to the Project 3 specification. Munchers are
always created facing EAST, not NORTH. (Something to do with being
followers of the heretic pharaoh Akhenaton. McQ

- I've posted some sample data for Project 3. The log data was
captured by redirecting output into a file. Just go to Project
Settings, select the Debug pane, and enter a command line like
"PlantAging01.txt > PlantAgingLog01.txt". McQ

- (5 pm) I've posted another revision of the Project 3 specification,
providing a few more answers to questions from the Forum and from class.

highlighted, and this should be final unless there are errors.

- I've posted a minor revision of the specification for Homework 3 (changes
are highlighted). Basically, I struck out a reference to memory
registers that weren't included in this assignment, and I added a more
precise guarantee regarding the formatting of command lines in the input
script. McQ
- The Curator is now accepting submissions of Homework 3. McQ
- Homework 3 (RPN Calculator) will be due by midnight Tuesday April 2.

the Homework page. I should have the assignment
set up on the Curator this afternoon. McQ

- Mrinmayee Kulkarni has made a change to her office hours. See the

- A Forum (discussion board) for CS 2704 is now
available. There is a link to it in the table of contents for this
website. To use the Forum you must log in with your VT PID and
password. Be sure to read the welcome message that's posted on the CS
2704 Forum for usage guidelines. McQ

- I've posted a relatively minor update to the
specification for Homework 1 and added new sample input/output files.

Week of January 13

- Students who need to force-add CS 2704 must
attend the first class meeting and fill out a CS Department force-add
request form. No decisions will be made regarding force-adds until
after the first class meeting. NOTE: There will be absolutely NO
exceptions to the stated prerequisites for this course. Do not waste
my time by requesting one.
