I'm not going to engage in a religious debate regarding OS choice, but that's an ignorant statement. And yes, I have and do use Unix as well.

Depends upon the choice of font.

Yep, and that's what it means.

Nope. There's no reason the TAs should have to mess with variant formats. I picked Word because it's universally available in the labs on campus, so everyone has access to it, and the Word drawing tools are entirely adequate to do structure charts and simple UML diagrams.
