I'm not sure I remember what answer I had mind for the bottom of the page..
I guess we would talk about efficiency of representation (minimal number of bits), completeness (can you represent everything you want to? or a sufficient subset of what you'd like to?), and maybe efficiency of operation (can common operations be done quickly given this particular representation?).
It would be good to do a simple example of ASCII at least.
And I like to do an example where I put up 32 bitts and give them about 5 possible meanings (integer, instruction, floating point number, 4 ASCII characters,...) on a particular real machine.
