I ignored the non-linearity. In fact, that would require even more solutions per time step, since each solution only solves a linear approximation to the problem!

And then you'd like to make that model much more complex (more terms, more equations), and probably refine the grid ... 1 mile of spatial resolution does not sound good when you are talking about the chemistry of air pollution!

I did not do an memory complexity estimate either. That's probably prohibitive too. Sounds like a good HW question...
