Objectives

The history of computing studies in this course are primarily supported by viewing the first three episodes of the WGBH/BBC Video series entitled "The Machine That Changed the World". From these videos is intended that students get an appreciation of the events that led to the creation of the first computers, of the continued development of the computer from a massive main frame to a desk-top device, and of the contributions of the many computer pioneers who provided the ideas and impetus for the expanded concept of a computer.
