CS6704: Guidelines for Paper Presentation
For each week, two students will present and lead discussion on two papers from the SE literature. Each presenter will prepare a 30-minute talk, which MUST be emailed to the instructor before class. The presenter will lead an additional 30-minute discussion. The presenter will prepare questions for an in-depth analysis of the paper and/or questions stemming from the paper. We will have a 15-minute break between presentations. For weeks you prepare a presentation, you are not responsible for a critique.
- The presentation should include several main components:
- Problem statement: What is the problem?
- Approach: What technique is proposed? Please provide sufficient details to facilitate understanding and dicussion of the approach.
- Evaluation: How is the approach evaluated?
- Related work: How is the research different from prior work?
- Conclusion: What is learnt from the paper?
- Discussion questions: What are the points you would like people to discuss about? The questions may interleave with other sections of your talk.
- Some papers may require some preparation of background knowledge. You may want to include some background introduction to facilitate discussion
- I will prepare an evaluation of your talk after the presentation.
