Discussion questions about
class projects – Feb. 28
a.
Describe
your research question(s) in terms of components of immersion, proposed
benefit of immersion, application area and/or task type, and metric(s). For
example, "Do head tracking and/or stereoscopy improve spatial
understanding for complex biological visualizations, as measured by the
accuracy of feature counts?" b.
Defend
your answers to question a. c.
How
specifically will you address your research question(s) experimentally? Talk
about the environment you will build, the tasks you will have users perform,
the measures you will use, and the participants you will recruit. How will
you implement each of the levels of immersion required in your experiment?
How will you gather and analyze the data? d.
How
is your project addressing the tradeoff between experimental control and
ecological validity? In other words, how have you chosen to run the
experiment: with as much control as possible, with as much real-world
validity as possible, or somewhere in between? e.
How
do you expect your results to generalize? How will others be able to use your
results? What is the expected impact of your work? |
