CS 5714 Final Review
As with the midterm,
the final will be a closed-book, closed-notes exam.
The questions will come from material covered in class,
material from the textbook, and material from class
discussions and activities.
You will have the entire exam period to complete the final.
Several questions have multiple parts -- be sure to answer
each question completely.
There will be two types of questions on the final:
- Short answer questions -- the short answer questions
will test your ability to compare or apply
the terms and concepts from class in various situations.
You should answer the question in one or two paragraphs
(less than half a page).
Below is an example:
What are the key principles of minimalism? For what types
of users is minimalist documentation NOT well suited?
- Essay questions -- the essay questions will have multiple parts.
The first part typically will test your knowledge of facts and
definitions important to HCI, while the other parts
will push you to think about deeper issues.
Below is an example:
In interaction design, reversibility via an "undo" command
is essential, but there are many tradeoffs in the design
of undo schemes. Consider an undo command in a shared
editor system, where more than one person may be editing a
document simultaneously. Describe how the undo command
could work, considering the tradeoffs in interaction design.
If you have any questions, please send them to the email list
so that the professor, the TA, and your fellow students
can help you to answer them.
Good luck!
