Censorship
In 1994, just about the time that this set of pages were being created, there was an outcry at Carnegie Mellon University regarding the institution's restrictions on the access to newsgroups. There were many web pages created about this issue at that time, probably mostly by disgruntled but well-intentioned students. Most of them have now disappeared. The story of the CMU "troubles" is now maintained as the Coalition for Academic Freedom of Expression (CAFE)! This site includes links to similar events.
